"I began painting 20 years ago while studying in Aix en Provence, France. Inspired by the lyrical quality of the Provencal landscapes, I began with pen and ink sketches, graphite and oil washes, and small watercolour studies. Mostly working plein air, I
studied the changing light, colour, and movement of the surrounding countryside. In travels throughout Europe, I continued to develop my abstract, textural style, returning to Canada in 1990 to complete my studies.
Currently working in oil and
mixed media, my works have a gestural style. Landscapes are tranquil, pensive, and poetic, abstract in realization with edges of forms which diffuse and dissolve.
I use a subtle colour blending technique and tonal palette allowing the subject to
evolve on the canvas. There are strong emotional undercurrents and visual metaphors in my works which create feelings of stillness and equanimity.
Having participated in many festivals, my art is on display in private and corporate collections
across Canada, the United States, Europe, and Australia."
