Slava was born into an artistic family and began painting at the age of 9. He received his Masters ofFine Art from the Ukranian Academy of Arts and during his early career he painted in oil, creating monumental murals and he also taught art.
After
moving to Canada in 1995 he began using the encaustic method of painting, a process that uses dry pigment, hot beeswax and paint.
